There isn’t one lesson that can teach you about becoming a writer, but a continual waterfall of lessons. Superstars is a waterfall and while I can’t see all the droplets that form it, I think I’m getting the beauty of it’s entirety. For those that aren’t familiar, this is a writing conference where folks learn the business of writing and refine their craft.
Not gonna lie, I’d some strong imposter syndrome the first time I went there, but since then I’ve taken the lessons I learned and applied them to the work. My Comedy Scifi novel Gambling on Common Sense: Rationality, Romance, and the Space Between came together after my first visit to this seminar. I found my beta readers, mentors, and my Editor David Hankins there.
The reason I’d a 535% successful Kickstart funded within the first 3 hours is because I applied the lessons learned from Superstars and leveraged the wonderful connections I’d made. Not just business connections but friends as well. I’m so lucky that the Tribe that has formed around this organization is full of people building eachother up.
James A. Owens does a talk called Drawing Out the Dragons and he calls out that if you want to do something no one can stop you & if you don’t want to do someone how no one can help you. I want to create and I will never stop writing stories. I’m so thankful that the folks in Superstars have been willing to share their knowledge and guidance to get me here.

There are so many things that I can’t talk about them all here, but I’m so grateful for this conference who took that wide-eyed girl and showed her how to take her passion and turn it into a reality. I’ve made the mistake of giving up on a dream but I know what I want, and, now, I know how to get here.
